The Black Plague

The Black Plague was caused by fleas carried by rats. Rats were very common in towns and cities. The fleas would bite the victum injecting a bacteria which caused the disease. Back then people lived very close together and didn't know about contagious diseases which caused the disease to spread quickly. It was also spread very quickly because they lacked medical knowledge.

The Black Plague started in Mongolia, then traveled on ships through the Black Sea, landing in Venice, and then spread throughout Europe.
